The Base
- 1 ½ cups 100% Tart Cherry Juice Not from concentrate, divided
- 3 tbsp Grass-Fed Beef Gelatin Unflavored
- 10-15 drops Liquid Stevia or Monk Fruit Optional, for sweetness
The Sleep Boosters
- 1 tsp Magnesium Glycinate Powder I use Nobi Nutrition
Bloom the Gelatin Pour ½ cup of the cold tart cherry juice into a small bowl. Slowly sprinkle the 3 tbsp of beef gelatin over the surface of the juice. Do not dump it in a pile. Whisk gently to combine and let it sit for 5 minutes until it thickens and looks like applesauce.
Heat the Juice Pour the remaining 1 cup of tart cherry juice into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat until it is steaming hot but not boiling. (Boiling can weaken the gelatin).
Dissolve Remove the saucepan from the heat. Scrape the thick "bloomed" gelatin mixture into the hot juice. Whisk vigorously until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the liquid is smooth.
Add Boosters Whisk in the 1 tsp of Magnesium Glycinate powder and the liquid sweetener (if using) until no lumps remain.
Pour & Set Carefully pour the mixture into silicone gummy molds. If you don't have molds, pour into a lightly greased 8x8 glass baking dish.
Chill Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until firm to the touch. Pop them out of the molds and store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Storage: Keep these in the refrigerator! Since they have no preservatives, they will last up to 2 weeks in the fridge. They will melt if left in a hot car or warm room.
- Dosage: I recommend taking 2-3 gummies about 30–60 minutes before bed.
- Gelatin Tip: Make sure you buy Beef Gelatin (green or orange tubs usually), NOT Collagen Peptides (blue tubs). Collagen will not gel!
- Texture: These are firm and chewy, not soft like Jell-O.
